Jodie Foster is an actress whose career spans 35 years and many genres. She has successfully portrayed roles varying from teen prostitutes to backwoods hermits. In addition to acting, Jodie Foster is also a film director and producer. She was born November 19th, 1962 in Los Angeles. Foster was raised by her mother who worked as a film producer.

She took her daughter to auditions and Jodie was in commercials by the age of three years old. Before she even reached college age, Jodie Foster had been in almost 50 different films and movies. For her role in "Taxi Driver" in 1976, Foster was nominated for an Academy Award. The young Foster managed to do this and still be the a model student at her French-language prep school, where she was named valedictorian.

During her teen years, Foster often worked in France. After high school, Foster went to Yale University and graduated manga cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in literature in 1985. She would have graduated a year earlier only she was forced to take a leave of absence: Ronald Reagan's shooting by John Hinckley, Jr. caused Foster a lot of media attention. Hinckley was obsessed with Foster and had sent her love letters and stalked her. Jodie Foster was able to successfully transition into more adult roles. For her part in "The Accused", Foster won a Golden Globe. In 1991, Jodie Foster made a successful debut as a director with the film "Little Man Tate" and then later directed the film "Home for the Holidays" in 1995.

Jodie Foster has been very avid about hiding her private life from the media. This has led to a lot of speculation about her sexual orientation. She has two sons who were born in 1998 and 2001 but did not reveal the father's identity.
