Liv Tyler is the daughter of Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler though she earned her own fame as an actress, model and singer. She was born July 1st, 1977 in New York City. Her mother is Bebe Buell who is a former Playboy Playmate as well as a singer. When Tyler was born, her mother claimed that Todd Rundgren was her father. It wasn't until Liv was nine years old that she learned her true father's identity. In 1991, her parentage was made public and she changed her last name from Rundgren to Tyler. Buell said she lied because Steven Tyler was addicted to drugs when Liv was born.
Liv Tyler began modeling at the age of 14 and also appeared in TV commercials. However, she decided to pursue acting instead and her father was the one that helped her get her big break. Liv was cast in the 1993 music video "Crazy" by Aerosmith and got attention for her performance. In the years after, she received roles in films like "Silent Fall", "Empire Records" and "Heavy".
It was the 1996 film "Stealing Beauty" that was Tyler's real breakthrough and led to roles in hit films like "That Thing You Do" and "Armageddon". Her role in the film trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" won Tyler worldwide recognition and praise as a talented actress.
Liv Tyler married musician Royston Langdon in 2003 and they had a child together in 2004. The couple eventually separated in 2008. In addition to acting, Liv Tyler is involved in charitable work and in 2003 was made Goodwill Ambassador for the United States. She has also done work with UNICEF and the Women's Cancer Research Fund.
